When will Automobile industry open?

        As govt. of India extended lockdown till 3rd May 2020, All manufacturer and dealers are eagerly awaiting to resume their work. As per guideline issued by Union Ministry of health and family welfare district are divided into three zones Red, Orange and Green(1).The resumption of work depends in which zone are based.

For example Pune's Pimpri, Chinchwad and chakan belt is a major producer of component and spare parts. Companies like Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have their major production in this area. Now Pimpri, chinchwad and chakan belt is in RED zone so it may take a more time to continue production. Apart from these companies like Skoda Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz. Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Motor, Fiat Chrysler Automobile, Bajaj Auto and Force Motor are some of the key vehicle makes that are operating out of pimpri, Chinchwad and chakan area.

"We would like to open our plants at the earliest; however for us the health and safety of our associates is of prime importance. We are also closely communicating and aligning with our OEMs to plan for normal resumption post-lockdown. We are still awaiting guidelines from the local authorities. We need to respect both the Centre and state guidelines.” said Deepak jain, CMD of Lumax industries, also the president of Autocomponent Manufacturers Association.

"We are assessing the guidelines and we will act based on the directives of the government." said a spokesperson at Skoda Auto.
